Computer Generated HAIKU

Sound improbable? Certainly -- machines can't understand language. But they are very good at manipulating patterns. So haiku.scm takes MadLibs-style patterns and fills them, using the a database of nouns, adjectives, adverbs, and verbs collected by Princeton University and distributed with WordNet (not included with the sourcecode). It thereby generates "HAIKU" according to the 5-7-5 syllable scheme. I cranked out about a thousand of these, and actually came up with some very interesting (albeit "beat") poems. Similar programs are working on my experimental site, Severed Tentacle. Source code is available for Download.
